Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery
Prior to the invention of laparoscopic surgery, all surgery was performed through a laparotomy, also known as “open surgery”. A laparotomy is where the surgeon creates a large incision in the abdomen to be able to perform the necessary procedure. Laparoscopy was slowly adopted starting in the 1990s and became widely used later that decade.
What is Laparoscopic Surgery?Laparoscopy is where small incisions are made and plastic tubes are inserted through the incisions. Air (CO2) is introduced into the patient’s abdomen through these tubes. Surgical instruments along with a video camera are then placed through these tubes. The video camera displays images on a monitor. The instruments are then used to perform the same surgery that was done years ago through a laparotomy (Big abdomanal incision).

What is Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery?
When laparoscopic surgery first became widely adopted, it was limited to very few surgeries such as gallbladder removal and appendix removal. Also, if a patient who has had previous open surgery, needed another surgery, surgeons would perform another open surgery.
Our team of surgeons have advanced training in laparoscopy and innovative technology. Using these methods we perform a diverse number of procedures, even in patients with previous open surgery. We use cutting-edge technology to get you the results that you want and help you recover faster.
